Microsoft has revealed an exceptionally strong lineup for Xbox Game Pass in May 2025, headlined by the long-awaited Senua's Saga: Hellblade 2, Blizzard's Diablo IV, and the first major expansion for Starfield.
The announcement, made during the latest Xbox Games Showcase, represents one of the service's most impressive monthly offerings to date and includes four major AAA titles alongside several indie gems.
Headlining Titles
Senua's Saga: Hellblade 2, the highly anticipated sequel to Ninja Theory's acclaimed psychological action-adventure, will arrive on Game Pass on day one of its May 15th release. The game continues Senua's journey through a brutal Viking world, with enhanced combat mechanics and the series' signature exploration of mental health themes.
"Bringing Hellblade 2 to Game Pass at launch has always been our plan," said Dom Matthews, Studio Head at Ninja Theory. "We want as many players as possible to experience Senua's journey, and Game Pass allows us to reach an audience that might not otherwise try such a unique title."
In a surprise announcement, Diablo IV will join the service on May 20th, marking the first time a mainline Diablo game has been available on Game Pass. This comes as part of Microsoft's ongoing integration of Activision Blizzard titles following the 2023 acquisition.
Starfield Expansion and More
Starfield: Shattered Space, the first major expansion for Bethesda's space RPG, will also arrive on Game Pass on May 28th. The expansion adds a new star system, faction, and approximately 20 hours of additional content to the base game.
"Shattered Space explores the consequences of fractures in reality caused by unregulated grav drive usage," explained Todd Howard, Game Director at Bethesda Game Studios. "Players will encounter phenomena that challenge their understanding of the universe we've built."
Rounding out the major releases is Monster Train 2, the sequel to the critically acclaimed roguelike deck-builder, which launches directly into Game Pass on May 8th.
Indie Additions
The May lineup also includes several notable indie titles:
• Hollow Knight: Silksong (May 10) - The long-awaited sequel to Team Cherry's metroidvania masterpiece
• Cocoon (May 15) - A puzzle adventure from the lead gameplay designer of Limbo and Inside
• Dave the Diver (May 22) - The popular underwater adventure/restaurant management hybrid
• Neva (May 29) - A new atmospheric adventure from the creators of Gris
Departing Titles
As usual, several games will leave the service at the end of the month. Titles departing on May 31st include Forza Horizon 4, Halo Wars 2, Pentiment, and The Elder Scrolls Online.
Microsoft has also announced a limited-time promotion offering new subscribers their first three months of Game Pass Ultimate for $1, likely timed to capitalize on the strong May lineup.
"This May represents our commitment to making Game Pass the best value in gaming," said Sarah Bond, President of Xbox. "From day one releases to major third-party titles, we're delivering an unprecedented variety of experiences to our subscribers."
